rhed Built Prototypes: A Co-Generation Power Speed Boat

Revolutionizing the Boat House Living Experience

The rhed Design Office and Del Terrelonge have unveiled their latest innovation in the world of boating - a co-generation power speed boat that promises to redefine the boat house living experience. Inspired by the Canadian outdoor lifestyle and the designer's exploration of the Mediterranean, this unique boat combines functionality, sustainability, and style.

The rhed built project boat house features a co-generation system that utilizes a natural gas heating and cooling system to generate electricity as a byproduct. The boat acts as the receptor for this surplus energy, powering its electrical drive systems and internal stern-mounted solar delivery system. In a groundbreaking twist, the boat can also provide supplementary energy for the boat house when needed, reversing its role as an energy source.

Designed with meticulous attention to detail, the boat boasts a sleek and modern aesthetic. The hull design incorporates wings for stability and battery storage, ensuring a smooth and efficient ride. The boat's operation is facilitated by an electronic throttle, key switch, high-powered electronics motor, and a user-friendly touch screen display for seamless control.

The realization of this innovative design involved a multi-step process. Starting from a sketch, the drawings were transferred into CAD and further developed using a 3D max system. A 3D printed prototype was then created, followed by the fabrication of a full-scale fiberglass model for display at the Interior Design Show (IDS), where the concept exhibition received a Gold Award for Best of Show.

Technical specifications for the boat vary depending on the model. The classic version offers a maximum speed of 32.0 mph, a cruising speed of 25.6 mph, and a capacity for two people. With a weight of 2000 lbs, the boat is constructed using fiberglass, wood, and light gauge aluminum. The c-racer version, on the other hand, boasts a maximum speed of 50.0 mph, a cruising speed of 40.0 mph, and a weight of 1800 lbs. It is crafted from lightweight carbon fiber.

The rhed built prototypes have not gone unnoticed in the design world. In 2019, the design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Yacht and Marine Vessels category. This prestigious accolade recognizes the boat's well-designed, practical, and innovative features that meet professional and industrial requirements.

With its groundbreaking co-generation system, sleek design, and impressive performance, the rhed built prototypes are set to revolutionize the boat house living experience. This innovative design showcases the potential for sustainable and stylish solutions in the world of boating, paving the way for a greener future.
